Piers on the North Sea and the Baltic Sea: go over the water – journey

If the title hadn’t already been taken, Bernd Opfermann could easily be called the pontifex maximus, the greatest bridge builder: the engineer and his Hamburg office planned 24 of the 29 new piers currently on the North and Baltic Seas. The Hessian only wanted to stay in the north for three years, but it has now become almost 50 years. Over time, the buildings on the water got bigger and more unusual. The jetties have been transformed into adventure miles where passenger ships can also dock.
