On this day, Hubert Aiwanger is cheered, applauded, rhythmically and loudly. But at this moment it is completely quiet in the room. Aiwanger looks down briefly; it’s about the leaflet affair. “The accusation that was made is the political dead zone,” says Florian Streibl, parliamentary group leader of the Free Voters (FW). He looks directly at Aiwanger: “You,” – Aiwanger looks back – “You are the first to survive such a thing.” Applause in the hall. Aiwanger stands up, raises his thumb in the air. Everything is very slow, deliberate, it almost seems solemn.
