Rummenigge urges Bayern to be more discreet when looking for a coach

Bayern still have no coach for the new season; Details about the search continue to leak out to the public. This bothers a former boss who speaks clearly to his successors.
The Munich team has been looking for a new coach since the decision to separate from coach Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season. Recently, some preferred candidates such as Xabi Alonso (Bayer Leverkusen) and Ralf Rangnick (team boss in Austria) had canceled. A lot of information about the search for a coach was repeatedly in the media.
Not every move in every newspaper
Rummenigge criticized this and referred to the signing of Pep Guardiola, which was successful in 2013 under himself and the then club president Uli Hoeneß. “When we signed Pep, we worked on the operation for a total of six months and nobody found out about it,” recalled Rummenigge and recommended: “You have to act strategically, but without the next move being in all the newspapers every day.”
After a disappointing year in the Bundesliga, the Munich team wants a coach who will develop the team further. After numerous rejections, there is currently speculation about Erik ten Hag as a possible candidate. The 54-year-old Dutchman still has a contract as Manchester United coach until 2025, but has to leave his post in England early due to lack of success. United lost 4-0 at Crystal Palace on Monday evening and is in danger of missing out on participation in next year’s European Cup – the Ten Hag team had already squandered their Champions League chances recently.
“Back to the path of continuity”
FC Bayern has not fallen that low yet. In the Bundesliga, second place awaits behind the outstanding champions Bayer Leverkusen, and in the premier class the Munich team wants to celebrate reaching the final away to Real Madrid on Wednesday (9 p.m./DAZN); the semi-final first leg ended 2-2.
Rummenigge said that missing the championship title was not a drama. However, he warned that the club would have to focus more on continuity again in the future. “Recently we have deviated a little from our course, both on the field and in the management level,” said the ex-professional.
“FC Bayern must regain that stability at all levels that has always distinguished it. You have to remember that people like Uli (Hoeneß), Franz (Beckenbauer) and I have held the helm of this ship for a hundred years, at least that was My feeling is that it is difficult to achieve such longevity in a leadership position, but FC Bayern has to get back on the path of continuity.”
