A partial solar eclipse could also be seen in the sky over Hamburg on Tuesday morning – at least when the clouds over the city cleared the view from time to time.

During the celestial phenomenon, which lasted around two hours, the moon moved up to 30 percent ahead of the sun over Hamburg. The eclipse then looked like the sun was missing a piece at the top. The last time there was such a spectacle in the Hamburg sky was on June 10, 2021.

The planetarium had offered interested sky gazers free goggles in the foyer of the star theater in the morning.

Next partial solar eclipse in 2025

The next partial solar eclipse will not come until March 29, 2025. A solar eclipse always occurs when the moon is between the earth and the sun at new moon and covers parts of the sun or the entire sun.
