Ottobrunn: Fire in the Isar Center – district of Munich

Fire broke out on Wednesday morning during construction work at the Isar Center in Ottobrunn. Although the actual fire area in the area of the old underground car park of the shopping center was manageable according to witnesses, heavy smoke developed, which according to the fire brigade initially indicated an extensive fire. Therefore, several respiratory protection teams were sent into the building. They found several square meters of fiberboard that had caught fire and were able to quickly extinguish the fire. The cause was probably flex work, as it was called at the site.

A firefighter suffered circulatory problems during the operation. After he was taken outside by comrades and treated by the rescue service, he quickly recovered. The volunteer fire brigades in Ottobrunn and Neubiberg as well as strong emergency services were deployed. Unterhachinger Strasse had to be closed off-site for the duration of the operation. There is no information yet on the extent of the damage.

The Isar Center has been remodeled and expanded for about two years. Most of the work has now been completed and the shopping center has recently been put back into operation.
