The 2022 Oscars are overshadowed by a scandal on stage: when comedian Chris Rock is about to announce the nominees in the “Best Documentary” category, he makes a derogatory joke about Jada Pinkett Smith. “GI Jane 2 – I can’t wait to see that,” Rock says to Will Smith’s wife. It’s a reference to the movie “GI Jane” in which Demi Moore shaves her hair.

However, Jada Pinkett Smith is not bald voluntarily, but suffers from circular hair loss. Too much for Will Smith, he goes on stage and slaps Chris Rock in the face. He then yells, “Don’t put my wife’s name in your damn mouth.”
An incident the likes of which has never happened before at any Oscar ceremony and which should certainly have been discussed at the subsequent parties. As usual, there were celebrations at various locations: at the Governors Ball after the Oscar gala, at the viewing party of musician Elton John and at the “Vanity Fair” magazine event, to which the Oscar winners are also drawn.
