WEATHER – Dijon was covered in a white coat, but it was not snow. An impressive hailstorm fell on the city and several localities in the Côte-d’Or department this Monday, May 20, transforming the landscape.

As the local daily explains The Public Good, The hailstones fell in Côte-d’Or between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Below, you can see images posted by Internet users or local media on X (formerly Twitter), which show whitewashed streets and torrents of water in Dijon.

30 centimeters of hail

Still according to the Good public, 30 centimeters of hail fell on rue Robert Folz, in the Zénith district of Dijon. Other surrounding villages such as Fleurey-sur-Ouche, Valmy and Quetigny were affected.

The episode was very short, around fifteen minutes, but damage was to be deplored. Stores were damaged, indicates for example France blue. Local media add that firefighters received 147 calls in two hours and intervened more than 40 times. There would have been no injuries.

In the Doubs too, the hail fell heavily as you can see in the video below. The roads of Orchamps-Vennes and its surroundings were also covered with white marbles, described France blue.

This Monday, the eight departments of the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region were placed on yellow storm alert by Météo-France. This will still be the case on Tuesday.
