Oberschleißheim – horse and carriage gala – district of Munich

In baroque times, the horse was still the preferred means of mobility; those who could afford it drove through alleys and courtyard gardens in their magnificent carriage. The historic rider and carriage gala in Schleißheim’s palace gardens on Sunday, September 4th, aims to take its visitors back to this time. Demonstrations of historic carriages, riders in side saddles, cavalrymen and baroque rider formations are on the program. Already in its twelfth edition, the horse becomes the focal point in the midst of a magnificent ensemble of courtly architecture and horticulture from the 17th and 18th centuries. The riding spectacle lasts from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., admission is free.
