Niklas Süle has to leave the DFB quarter after a positive corona test. Four other players around Joshua Kimmich have to be in quarantine.

After the DFB had confirmed that a player from the national team tested positive in a corona test on Monday, further details are now known. At a press conference, DFB director Oliver Bierhoff (53) and team doctor Tim Meyer (54) named the player concerned. It’s Niklas Süle (26). The Bayern Munich defender was vaccinated and, according to the DFB, has no symptoms.

Niklas Süle now has to be in quarantine and thus misses the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Liechtenstein and Armenia on Thursday and Sunday.

Kimmich and Co: Four contact persons have to leave, four do not

In addition to Süle, four other national players have to leave the DFB quarters in Wolfsburg. Bayern players Joshua Kimmich (26), Serge Gnabry (26) and Jamal Musiala (18) as well as Karim Adeyemi (19) from RB Salzburg will meet. The four traveled with Süle. According to the DFB, there were four other players in the travel group who were not named. The DFB did not say why they were allowed to stay. Meyer only pointed out that the health authorities decided in these cases on the basis of several factors.

Joshua Kimmich had previously stated that he was not vaccinated – and thus triggered a broad debate. The vaccination status of the other departed players is not known.

Flick nominated four professionals

For the departed players, national coach Hansi Flick (56) nominated three players after: Ridle Baku (23) and Maximilian Arnold (27) from VfL Wolfsburg and Kevin Volland (29) from AS Monaco. On Monday, Flick had made up for defender Jonathan Tah (25, Bayer Leverkusen) without giving any reason.
