Nice corrects Lens at Bollaert and relaunches in the race for the podium

Having been struggling for several weeks, OGC Nice found its way to success in Ligue 1 this Saturday on the Lens pitch (1-3) during the 26th day of Ligue 1. Thanks to Moffi and Thuram, the Aiglons returned ahead of the Sang et Or in the standings and are in 4th place before the clash, Sunday (1 p.m.), between Brest (2nd) and Lille (5th).

The black streak ends for Francesco Farioli and his men. Looking for success in Ligue 1 since January 27 (1-0 against Metz), OGC Nice reacted in style this Saturday at Bollaert during the 26th day. Faced with a direct opponent for the European places, the Aiglons inflicted a nice slap on the Lensois by winning 1-3. A victory far from undeserved, even if the Sang et Or made their task a little easier.

Lens gave the stick

From the 11th minute, it was Facundo Medina who was guilty of a first error. Jostled in his recovery and moved by Mohamed Ali-Cho, the latter accelerated and had no trouble finding Terem Moffi who scored in the empty goal (0-1, 11th). Without success like Elye Wahi, too imprecise (seven shots, only one on target), Lens left Nice ahead in the score without the Gym showing excessive offensive activity.

Returning from the locker room, Wahi thought he could tie the two teams but his goal was invalidated for an offside position. Less than a minute later, on a ball within 20 meters of Lens, Nampalys Mendy missed his lateral transmission. Recovered by Cho, the ball was served in the race of Khephren Thuram, who beat Brice Samba with the flat of his right foot (2-0, 53rd).

Nice at the gates of the podium

The match even seemed definitively over when, in the 67th minute, Abdukodir Khusanov came to roughly surround Rosario in his area on a corner, offering a penalty perfectly converted by Moffi (3-0, 67th). But ten minutes later, Wahi’s magnificent goal on a left-footed rebound (3-1, 76th) ignited Bollaert again. But Dante and his teammates remained strong to achieve a valuable success and move up to 4th place in the standings (43 points), passing his evening opponent (6th, 42 points).

The Aiglons could move down a place in the event of Lille’s success in Brest on Sunday (1 p.m.). One thing is certain: the positions are tightening in the fight for the podium.
