Two Ukrainians are killed in the small town of Murnau. A short time later, a suspect is caught – a Russian. What do the police know about the background to the case?
Two men from the city were on the premises of a shopping center in Murnau in Upper Bavaria on Saturday evening Ukraine was killed. Shortly afterwards, the police were able to arrest a man who is considered a strong suspect. It is a 57-year-old Russian. The background to the crime is still completely unclear.
The police were initially unable to say whether the three men knew each other. “We are still at the very beginning of the investigation,” said police spokesman Daniel Katz.
Ukrainians killed in Murnau: victims 23 and 36 years old
The spokesman said the crime occurred around 5:15 p.m. in front of a grocery store in the small town. The perpetrator initially fled. As part of the search, the 57-year-old suspect was caught very quickly. The officers discovered him at his home address near the crime scene.
According to police, the victims were two Ukrainian citizens, aged 23 and 36, who both lived in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district. They died of stab wounds – the older of the two directly at the crime scene, the younger one a short time later in a hospital.
The criminal police started an investigation on suspicion of double murder. The public prosecutor’s office filed an application for arrest against the 57-year-old and he is to be brought before the investigating judge at the responsible district court on Sunday.
