Yemeni rebels vowed Thursday to continue attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea in solidarity with the Palestinians.

The American army announced Wednesday evening, January 17, that it had struck 14 Houthi missiles on the ground in Yemen in order to “protect” navigation in the region. “These missiles on launch pads posed an immediate threat to merchant ships and US Navy vessels in the region and could have been launched at any time”wrote the US military command in the Middle East (Centcom) in a statement published on X (formerly Twitter).

A media outlet close to the Houthis announced earlier that American and British forces had launched a fourth round of strikes. “The American-British aggression targeted the governorates of Hodeida, Taiz, Dhamar, Al-Bayda and Saada”indicated the al-Masirah channel, close to the Yemeni rebels.

Despite these new strikes, the Houthis vowed on Thursday to continue their attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea in solidarity with the Palestinians. “We will continue to target ships heading to the ports of occupied Palestine, regardless of US-British aggression to try to stop us”one of their officials told al-Masirah.
