New features to better “enlighten” young people and “reduce stress” on their post-baccalaureate orientation

It’s the season of gifts but also… of Parcoursup. On Wednesday, the post-baccalaureate admission platform so feared by families and sometimes also by teachers will open. On the program for this new epic, some new features, announced this Sunday the Minister of Higher Education Sylvie Retailleau. Something new, including the possibility for high school students, starting this year, to create their profile from second grade to better orient themselves. The platform’s information site will be open to high school students and reorientation students who wish to enroll in their first year of higher education in 2024, before registration starts on January 17.

“We are constantly improving the ergonomics of the platform in order to better help young people make their choices,” says Sylvie Retailleau in an interview with the Journal du Dimanche. They will have access to a “comparator” functionality, which will allow them to “find out about the content, the status of training, the pressure rate, tuition fees”, and will be able to “save their favorites” to keep them in mind. memory, she explains.

Improvements starting this Wednesday

Objective ? Being “able to examine the selection criteria which will also help them choose their specialty” (the three “major” subjects chosen by students in first grade, then reduced to two in final year), underlines the minister. And therefore to be able to build their orientation project further upstream. From Wednesday, candidates will be able to consult the search engine for the 23,000 training courses available in 2024. They will then have from January 17 to March 14 inclusive to make their choice among all these training courses.

To better “enlighten” young people and “reduce stress”, the Ministry of Higher Education also indicates that new “key figures on each training” will be provided to answer questions such as “is this training little or highly demanded? What was the profile of the candidates who were classified by the training last year? “. An “advice” section will also be “highlighted” on “the recommended courses in high school to go to this or that training”, as well as “advice given by the training courses themselves on how to apply”.

Another adjustment, the data proposed will be “enriched”, for BTS or professional licenses, with information on professional integration. The Parcoursup site will also directly offer “the ability to consult open days offered by higher education establishments”, adds the ministry.
