VfL Osnabrück – FC Schalke 04 in the live ticker: decision made!

The game between VfL Osnabrück and FC Schalke 04 caused quite a stir in advance. The encounter was originally scheduled to take place on Saturday (May 4th). Because the stadium at Bremer Brücke was closed, the game will now take place on Tuesday (May 7th) at 6:30 p.m. in the Millerntor Stadium in St. Pauli without spectators.

In the run-up to the game VfL Osnabrück – FC Schalke 04, the postponement of the game caused a lot of trouble between the clubs. The focus on Tuesday evening should now be on sport. Because: FC Schalke 04 can secure relegation early with a win against Osnabrück.

75th min: Schalke ups the ante again. Topp can receive and exploit the ball in the penalty area far too easily. He scores his second goal.

69th minute: VfL Osnabrück will probably have to get used to relegation to the third division, while FC Schalke 04 can plan for the next second division season.

65th minute: That should be the decision: Ouedraogo gets the ball on the edge of the box, beats an opponent and scores to make it 3-0.

60 minutes: An hour is over. Not much really happens here.

46th minute: Ouedraogo comes into the game for Karaman at FC Schalke 04. Tesche and Conteh are new to Osnabrück. Conteh could play for Schalke next year, the move is said to be imminent (more here!).

Half time: Schalke goes into the dressing room with a confident 2-0 lead. As of now, Schalke would have been saved and Osnabrück would have been relegated.

45th min: Shortly before the end, Terodde has another chance: his shot whizzes just past the goal.

42nd min: Almost 3-0 for Schalke! After a cross from Ouwejan, Topp heads the ball. But Kühn reacts with presence of mind and is able to prevent the impact.

31st min: Once again Schalke approaches the goal: Seguin hits a free kick just over the crossbar.

27th minute: Since the second goal there hasn’t been much from Schalke. The Royal Blues largely limit themselves to defending. However, Osnabrück does not pose much danger so far.

12th minute: FC Schalke 04 fans marvel on the couch at home or in the bars. They didn’t expect such a lightning start. The S04 stars can apparently also do it away without fans.

5th minute: Schalke leaves no room for doubt here. Kenan Karaman scores just three minutes later to make it 2-0. After losing the ball, Karaman runs towards the goal and shoots from a distance. Keeper Kühn can no longer get to it.

2nd min: That went quickly! Ouwejan crosses into the penalty area, where Terodde heads it on to Topp. The youngster stands freely in front of the goal and takes the early lead.

6:24 p.m.: Beforehand there was a dispute between Schalke and Osnabrück about the rescheduling of the game. In an interview on Sky, things look much more harmonious between Schalke boss Matthias Tillmann and Osnabrück managing director Michael Welling. “The matter is over for us,” says Tillmann.

5:32 p.m.: Steven van der Sloot makes his starting eleven debut for Schalke and is preferred to Henning Matriciani. He replaces the injured Brandon Soppy. Assan Ouedraogo initially sits on the bench.

5.30 p.m.: The lineup is there. Schalke plays as follows: Müller – van der Sloot, Kalas, Kaminski, Ouwejan – Schallenberg – Kabadayi, Seguin – Karaman – Terodde, Topp

4:56 p.m.: But now to the sporting starting position: FC Schalke 04 could force the decision today. Based on the results from the weekend, Schalke is in a position to stay in the league early with a win. The lead over the relegation place is five points before the game. With a win the lead would be eight points and Schalke would be saved.
