New armed attack in East Jerusalem, two wounded

Two people were wounded by bullets in an attack in an East Jerusalem neighborhood on Saturday, the Magen David Adom (MDA), the Israeli equivalent of the Red Cross, reported, the day after a shooting that left seven people dead near of a synagogue.

“At 10:42 a.m., we received a call (…) reporting a terrorist attack (…) two victims at the scene,” the MDA said in a statement. “A 23-year-old man in serious condition and a 47-year-old man in moderate to serious condition with gunshot wounds to his upper body,” an MDA spokesperson said. The attack took place in Silwan, a Palestinian neighborhood on the edge of the Old City.

“We were quickly on the scene and saw two victims of an armed attack,” Fadi Dekidek, a doctor at MDA, said in a statement. He said the victims were “conscious” and had been taken to hospital. Police said the suspect had been “neutralized” without specifying whether he was injured or dead.
