The European Union pledges humanitarian aid to Pakistan after the severe flooding. A number of countries have already participated in offers of assistance.

After the devastating floods in Pakistan, the European Union is coordinating the delivery of relief supplies.

Pakistani authorities have asked the EU for support, the European Commission said on Monday. So far, offers of help from countries such as Belgium, Sweden, Austria, France and Denmark have included hundreds of tents, mobile water pumps and a suspension bridge. France also offered a team of doctors and technicians.

According to the information, the humanitarian emergency aid of the EU so far amounts to well over two million euros. “We stand in solidarity with Pakistan and reaffirm our commitment to those affected by the devastating floods,” said EU Crisis Relief Commissioner Janez Lenarcic.
