The 2-3 defeat against Turkey not only put a damper on the European Championship mood – it also brought the entire mood down the day after DFB-Planning messed up…

A fan event was scheduled for Sunday on the grounds of the Berlin Olympic Stadium. To present the European Championship ball “Football Love”, the national players were once again supposed to stir up enthusiasm for the tournament; a small playing field was created.

However, there was little sign of Euro euphoria: around 300 fans came to the event. And they were initially left out in the rain.

Because the processing, including the speech by Julian Nagelsmann (36), took much longer than expected, there was a huge delay. The national coach found clear, critical words.

The XXL analysis was necessary after the weak game against Turkey. But bitter for the fans in Berlin: At 12.30 p.m., when the team was expected, there was still sunshine at the Olympic Stadium. When the team arrived 38 minutes late at 1:08 p.m., it was pouring.

The 13 DFB players who came to the event did their best to spread a good atmosphere. Among other things Thomas Müller (34), Mats Hummels (34) and Serge Gnabry (28) competed in a goal challenge on the small pitch, got completely soaked in their tracksuits, but bravely held out in the rain.

At the autograph session that followed, a long queue formed, the national players wrote and took selfies. Müller & Co. tried to spread a good mood despite the Turkey defeat. But the schedule put pressure on them: Nagelsmann had scheduled lunch at 1:30 p.m.

The fan queues had to be split up because otherwise there would have been an even bigger delay. In the end it became hectic: the DFB bus left at 1:58 p.m. and the schedule was completely pushed back. The Turkey defeat not only caused frustration on the field – but also off it…
