Unbelievable but true: Burnt food saved the life of an elderly Munich woman on Saturday. If there hadn’t been a fire in the apartment on Laimer Käpflstrasse, the smoke detector wouldn’t have gone off. Then the police, emergency services and fire department would not have been alerted by an attentive neighbor – and no one would have noticed in time that the 81-year-old had already lost consciousness due to life-threatening hypoglycemia.
But the helpers arrived in time to save the woman’s life twice: by getting her out of the smoke-filled apartment and treating her hypoglycemia. The woman from Laimer regained consciousness at the scene. She did not suffer any further injuries.
