Munich: S-Bahn failures after severe weather – Munich

Due to storm damage, there are numerous problems in local transport in the greater Munich area on Tuesday evening. The Deutsche Bahn reports several blocked S-Bahn routes: On the S 4 line, trees fell into the overhead line, so ultimately nothing went between Puchheim and Geltendorf.

The route between Dachau train station and Altomünster also had to be closed. There were also problems with the S 1 and the route was closed. There a tree fell into the overhead line at Pulling, later there was a lightning strike and technical faults in signals.

Train traffic to and from Munich is also badly affected. The routes between the state capital and Landshut and Ingolstadt were closed due to storm damage. Throughout Bavaria, there are disruptions and cancellations on numerous other routes. The Munich fire brigade reports 75 weather-related missions in the city by 8 p.m.: the basement and underpasses were full, strong winds broke several branches and there were traffic disruptions. The German weather service had predicted the storm on Tuesday. They should move northeast on Wednesday night.

Damage in Rosenheim and Lindau

A spokesman for the police in Rosenheim reported that trees had fallen on streets and cars, and the basements were full. “Calls come in here almost every minute,” he said. There was initially no precise overview of possible damage.

In Lindau on Lake Constance, the system of a garden show was damaged in a storm, as the organizers announced. Accordingly, branches of trees snapped off, construction fences collapsed and greenhouse doors were broken. However, the show should be able to open on Wednesday as planned.
