The Giesinger Grünspitz starts the new season this Saturday. From 2 p.m. onwards, residents and representatives of the Green City association will meet to clear, potter and paint, plant and discuss plans for this year. In 2023, the triangular area between Tegernseer Landstrasse and Martin-Luther-Strasse is to be redesigned and possibly partially built on.
Chairwoman Carmen Dullinger-Oßwald (Greens) announced in the Obergiesing-Fasangarten (BA) district committee that the first plans would be presented at a public event on April 8th. In addition, a round table has been scheduled for March 22nd at the Grünspitz, where supporters and opponents of the popular meeting place can talk.
“We want to have a democratic coexistence at the Grünspitz,” said Dullinger-Osswald. According to her, the area used by the Green City association is “a place where a lot can and may happen”. From the point of view of some residents, however, too much is already happening on the approximately 2000 square meter area – and for too long. As a result, the topic of noise should be a central point of discussion during the exchange on March 22nd, which begins at 5 p.m. at Grünspitz and will be continued later in the nearby Lutheran Church.
The neighbors should be relieved of noise
In order to reduce the burden on the neighborhood in the future, the BA is committed to ensuring that a hedge or other planting is created along Martin-Luther-Straße in the course of the 2023 redesign. In addition, a “calmer design” is needed in this area, according to a statement by the committee. In it, the BA, which was presented with two preliminary drafts by the city, pleads for a variant that provides for an enlargement of the existing plateau in the direction of Tegernseer Landstraße. As a result, more paved area would be available on the Grünspitz.
The local politicians are sympathetic to the plans for “various common areas, free spaces for flexible use in the center of the plateau and table tennis tables”. According to the current status, the toilet truck is to be set up in the area of the municipal department along Tegernseer Landstraße. At the suggestion of a citizen, the BA also wants to promote the creation of new bicycle parking spaces at Grünspitz as part of the redesign.
