Munich: Kurt Meisel Prize 2023 for Robert Dölle – Munich

The actor Robert Dölle receives the Kurt Meisel Prize 2023, awarded by the Association of Friends of the Residenztheater. This year, the sponsorship prizes for young theater talents, each endowed with 3000 euros, go to the actors Johannes Nussbaum and Vincent zur Linden.

Robert Dölle, born in Frankfurt am Main in 1971, played for several years at the Munich Kammerspiele, at theaters in Frankfurt and Cologne and has been a permanent member of the ensemble at the Residenztheater since 2019. Here he can be seen in plays by Ferdinand von Schirach, Knut Hamsun and Judith Herzberg, among others, and in his solo evening “Darkness” he captivates with a “unique voice” and a “charismatic stage presence”, according to the Resi-Freunde.

Johannes Nussbaum, born in Vienna in 1995, has been at the Residenztheater since the 2019/2020 season. Here he can be seen, for example, in a solo evening as Goethe’s “Werther”, in “James Brown wore curlers”, in the song recital “Now or Never” and as Adolf Eichmann in Heiner Kipphardt’s digital documentary “Bruder Eichmann”. In the jury’s statement it says: “In all roles he touches his audience in the heart, with this voice calm and gentle, also melancholic.”

Vincent zur Linden captivates the audience “through the unbelievable intensity of his performance,” according to the reasoning behind the award. Zur Linden, born in Düsseldorf in 1994, has been with the Residenztheater since the 2022/2023 season. He acts in “Das Vermächtnis (The Inheritance)”, in “Käthchen von Heilbronn” and in “Antigone”. In Yasmina Reza’s James Brown Wore Curlers, he captivates as Jacob, believing he is Celine Dion.

The awards will be presented at a theater matinee on Sunday, July 16, at 11 a.m. in the Residenztheater.
