Olympiapark and Allianz-Arena: Parking to be restricted – Munich

The green-red city hall coalition wants to restrict parking options for visitors to major events in the Olympic Park and in the Fröttmaninger Arena. According to a motion, the “residents free” rule in the surrounding residential areas is to be expanded and will apply throughout the entire summer of events. The entry restrictions on Spiridon-Louis-Ring and the bicycle path on Willi-Gebhard-Ufer are to be enforced, and parking on green spaces and tree ditches is to be prevented, particularly in the Ackermannbogen residential area.

At the same time, the Greens and the SPD are calling for parking spaces for e-scooters to be created in the Olympic Park and around the Fröttmaninger Arena. There are currently more than 10,000 electric scooters in Munich. Even though the city has now created numerous parking spaces for them, in many places they are simply parked all over the sidewalks. The operators of the e-scooters – Voi, Tier, Bolt and Lime – require users to take a photo of the parked scooter, but this obviously has little effect.

In an earlier motion, the Green-Red coalition had already demanded that providers inform their customers “in an appropriate manner” how to park the e-scooters correctly. It will also be examined whether providers should be obliged to equip their scooters with acoustic warning signals to alert blind and visually impaired people to potential obstacles.
