Wolfratshausen: Couple injured in house fire – Bavaria

On Saturday afternoon, a fire broke out in a single-family home in Wolfratshausen, in which an 82-year-old man sustained fatal injuries. His 85-year-old wife was also injured in the fire and is currently being treated in a hospital, according to police reports.

According to the officers, the 85-year-old called the emergency services at around 1:15 p.m. She reported that there had been some kind of explosion in the house and that it was now on fire. The first Wolfratshausen police patrol to arrive was able to rescue the 82-year-old man from the heavily smoke-filled basement. His wife had already managed to get outside herself. She was taken to hospital. Her husband was treated in a specialist clinic due to the severity of his burns, but according to the police, he died there on Sunday morning.

The fire brigades from the region were able to bring the fire under control on Saturday. According to the officials, the material damage caused is likely to be in the mid-five-figure euro range. The single-family home is currently not inhabitable.

The first investigations on site were carried out by officers from the Wolfratshausen police station. The same afternoon, the criminal investigation unit of the Weilheim criminal investigation station took over further investigations. The investigations, especially into the exact cause of the fire, are ongoing.
