Munich: Combined heat and power plant in Laim fails – technician discovers water damage – Munich

Several residents of a house on Westendstrasse in Laim reported to their property management on Sunday afternoon that the heating had failed and that there was no hot water in freezing temperatures. When a technician went to the privately operated combined heat and power plant to troubleshoot, he discovered that the approximately 300 square meter basement was about one meter under water, according to the fire department.

The emergency services sucked around 300 cubic meters of water out of the basement using a pump in just over two and a half hours. Only then could technicians get an idea of the extent to which the combined heat and power plant and the distribution of local heat had been damaged. They started the repair work immediately.

Where the water had leaked and when the heating could be put back into operation could not be clarified until the fire department left.
