Munich: Car thief escapes and rolls over on the Lindau Autobahn – Munich

The police experienced an unusual chase on New Year’s Day. Shortly before 11 p.m., a 36-year-old driver was driving in a car in serpentine lines in the Heckenstaller tunnel, the police report. In the Luise Kiesselbach Tunnel he touched the curb, guard rail and tunnel wall, but continued his journey and accelerated to up to 170 kilometers per hour in order to escape from the police.

On the Lindau A96 motorway he lost the right front tire, which slightly damaged the car behind him, but still tried to move forward. At the Oberpfaffenhofen junction he finally lost control of his car, it rolled over and came to a stop. The driver, who was found to have a blood alcohol content of 2.4 per mille, was uninjured. According to the police, the car was stolen from a car repair shop in Taufkirchen. The material damage amounts to tens of thousands of euros.
