Munich: Airport S-Bahn collides with warning markings on the track – Munich

An S-Bahn line 8 collided with two so-called warning beacons on the track early Sunday morning on the journey between Johanneskirchen and Unterföhring. Shortly before two o’clock the train caught the obstacles. According to initial investigations by the federal police, the warning beacons, marking and warning signs on the road, were stolen from a construction site about 50 meters away by one or more strangers. These would have blocked the tracks in a V-shape.

The train driver recognized the obstacle and initiated emergency braking, but was no longer able to prevent the collision. Nobody was injured. There were slight scratches on the locomotive. The track was closed for about an hour. There were delays in the morning S-Bahn traffic to and from the airport. The federal police are investigating a dangerous intervention in rail traffic.
