More than a dozen worshipers ill during Palm Sunday Mass

The faithful who came to attend Palm Sunday Mass, which marks the beginning of Holy Week in the Christian religion, in the church of Puygouzon (Tarn) were seized with discomfort one after the other. A dozen parishioners in total felt bad, reports The Noon Dispatch.

The Albi firefighters intervened around 10:30 a.m. and as a precaution they evacuated all the occupants of the religious building, around sixty in total. After verification, no gas leak was identified either by the firefighters or by GRDF agents and it does not appear that the heating system could have malfunctioned.

The parishioners were examined by a doctor and them nurses without the origin of their discomfort being known with certainty. The caregivers present on the spot nevertheless advance the advanced age of the victims, the fact that they remained standing for a long time and a certain warmth inside the church. The group effect may also have played a role and partly explained these close failures.
