Manuela Schwesig’s wish was clear. On February 28, 2022, four days after the Russian attack on Ukraine, the Prime Minister of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and SPD politician reported to the Association for “German-Russian Partnership” (DRP). The head of government asked the association to let its work rest. A very understandable concern. The association, which is based in the state capital of Schwerin, is suspected by the state parliament opposition of having been part of a network through which Russia wanted to influence German politics.
