Disneyland Paris is celebrating its 30th birthday. For this occasion, Minnie Mouse gets a new outfit: a pants suit. That doesn’t suit everyone.

Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse are among the figureheads of the Disney group. The constantly smiling figures with the big black ears are world famous. And they have been true to their style for almost 100 years. But now there is a big change for Minnie Mouse: she gets a new outfit. And not just any.

It is a blue polka dot pantsuit designed by British designer Stella McCartney. The occasion for the new outfit is the 30th birthday of Disneyland Paris. The park in France is celebrating this with new attractions, a renovated castle and a new outfit for Minnie Mouse.

Stella McCartney is quoted as saying in a statement from Disneyland Paris that she is delighted to be able to work with the one and only iconic Minnie Mouse. Minnie Mouse has always had a special place in her heart. The new version of Minnie Mouse makes her a “symbol of progress for a new generation”. Minnie Mouse will be wearing the pantsuit in honor of Women’s History Month in March, the designer is quoted as saying.

The new outfit provokes mixed reactions. Disneyland Paris’ post on the new pantsuit quickly made the rounds on Twitter. Some find the new thread of the mouse “beautiful”. There was also praise from former US Secretary of State and presidential candidate Hilary Clinton, who commented on the post with “très chic”.

Criticism of Minnie Mouse’s new outfit

Other Twitter users, however, find the new outfit “ugly” and “boring”. Minnie Mouse’s trouser suit was also a topic at the Fox broadcaster. Right-wing activist and commentator Candace Owens said, “They take all these things that nobody’s bothered about and they feel like they have to get rid of them and destroy them because they’re bored.”

In any case, the mouse figure’s clothing caused discussions and emotions.
