Convincing: Pianist Lukas Sternath in the Prinzregententheater – Munich

It’s been a year and a half since Lukas Sternath, at the age of 21, won first prize and seven special prizes at the ARD music competition in Munich. Accordingly, the Prinzregententheater is already packed for its first solo recital in the city. And the young Austrian pianist doesn’t miss a beat, choosing three heavyweights from the romantic piano repertoire: Schumann’s C major Fantasy, Schubert’s “Wanderer” Fantasy and Liszt’s B minor Sonata, weighed down rather than relieved by the inserted “Il penseroso” from Liszt’s “Années de Pèlerinage”.
