Prince Albert II and his family opened the Monaco section in the Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg’s Speicherstadt on Thursday.

The 66-year-old regent, his 46-year-old wife Princess Charlène and the nine-year-old twins Jacques and Gabriella started the first Formula 1 race in the mini version of the dwarf state on Thursday evening. The Prince’s Palace, the harbor with luxurious yachts and the casino can also be seen in the detailed, 36 square meter exhibition. The operators had been working on implementing their ideas for years.

Private tour for Albert and Charlène

Before the official opening of the Monaco part, the Monegasque royal family was able to get to know the popular tourist attraction in detail on a private tour. Prince Albert was enthusiastic about the new mini version of his homeland. “Truly incredible,” he said. The many details in the model landscape are wonderful.

The Miniatur Wunderland was closed to regular visitors on Thursday, but you can see the new part from Friday.

The model railway system is set to continue to grow

The Miniatur Wunderland in the historic Speicherstadt has been attracting millions of visitors since 2001 and is the largest model railway system in the world. The model area is currently more than 1,600 square meters. The exhibition, with a track length of around 17,000 meters, will continue to grow in the coming years.
