Mercedes recalls vehicles due to fire risk – Economy

Mercedes-Benz has recalled around 341,000 vehicles worldwide due to a possible fire risk. The GLE and GLS models from the years 2017 to 2023 are affected, according to a message in the database of the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) on Thursday. According to information from Mercedes-Benz in Stuttgart, the 48V ground point under the passenger seat may have come loose in certain vehicles. In this case the cable lug of the ground cable would not be correctly fixed. “This could increase the electrical contact resistance at this connection point. As a result, the temperature in this area could increase due to the high electrical currents that can flow through this connection.” This could then lead to a fire hazard, the KBA said. In Germany, more than 11,000 cars are affected by the recall. The screw connection of the ground point will be checked and corrected if necessary, it said.
