Martin Scorsese was awarded the Honorary Golden Bear for his life’s work at the Berlinale. Wim Wenders gave the laudatory speech.

The Berlinale celebrates one of the greatest legends of international cinema: In Berlin, master director Martin Scorsese (81) was awarded the Honorary Golden Bear for his life’s work in the evening. The 81-year-old filmmaker listened to the eulogy of his German colleague Wim Wenders (78) at the Berlinale Palast, visibly moved. In his speech, he praised the famous US director as, among other things, an “extraordinary storyteller” and “reigning king of cinema”.

Director legend Scorsese attended the gala event on Tuesday evening with his 24-year-old daughter Francesca Scorsese (24), who is also a filmmaker and has in the past brought her father closer to a younger generation of fans with a series of loving TikTok videos.
