Vegetables of all kinds are ideal for folding under the potato slices before baking. Spring onions, leeks, finely grated zucchini and/or mushrooms are particularly tasty. For meat eaters, fried minced meat, cubes of bacon or strips of chickadee add plenty of spice to the gratin, while vegans and vegetarians can use tofu and meat alternatives. Tip: If possible, be sure to use waxy potatoes. They become nice and soft when baked, but still retain their bite.
Recipe for a creamy one-pot potato gratin
Ingredients
- 600 g potatoes, waxy
- 150 ml cream or a plant-based alternative
- 200 ml milk or a plant-based alternative
- 150g grated cheese or a plant-based alternative
- 2 cloves of garlic
- Salt, pepper, nutmeg
preparation
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees top/bottom heat.
- Mix cream, milk and spices to taste. Peel the garlic cloves, press them and add them.
- Bring everything to the boil and simmer for about five minutes.
- Peel the potatoes and slice them.
- Grease a baking dish.
- Mix the sauce with the potato slices, pour into the tin, sprinkle with cheese and bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes until the cheese is golden brown.
