A fire broke out in the kitchen of an apartment building on Normannenplatz in Bogenhausen on Saturday night at around 1:40 a.m. A resident heard the smoke alarm in a neighboring apartment, went into the hallway and saw smoke coming from the apartment door opposite. She then alerted the fire department. The sleeping resident was woken up by emergency services and given first aid.
The emergency services brought the woman and neighbors from the adjacent apartments to safety and then began the extinguishing process via the stairwell. The fire that had ignited in the area of the stove had already gone out. The emergency services, equipped with breathing apparatus, only carried out minor extinguishing work.
This prevented the fire from spreading to other areas of the house and residents waiting on the street were allowed back into their apartments. The woman from the fire apartment was also able to return after receiving initial medical care. The fire department cannot yet quantify any material damage.
