Mark Margolis has died – known from “Breaking Bad” and “Scarface” – media

The American actor Mark Margolis, known from the series Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, is dead. He died in a New York hospital on Thursday after a short illness, his son, Morgan Margolis, said on Friday. Manager Robert Kolker confirmed the 83-year-old actor’s death.

Margolis, who learned his craft in well-known acting schools in New York, began his career on theatrical stages. His film break came in 1983 in Brian De Palma’s gangster film scarface. Director Darren Aronofsky got him for, among other things Black Swan, The wrestlers, The Fountain or pi in front of the camera.

In the award-winning TV series Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul Margolis shone in the role of former drug lord Hector Salamanca, who, while still in a wheelchair, was brutally involved in the nursing home. His performance earned him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series in 2012.
