Grunge singer and Screaming Trees frontman Mark Lanegan has died. The songwriter was 57 years old.

The American singer and songwriter Mark Lanegan (1964-2022) is dead. The sad news was announced on his Twitter account. Accordingly, Lanegan died on Tuesday morning (February 22) at his home in Killarney, Ireland. The grunge singer was 57 and is survived by his wife Shelley. There is currently “no further information,” it said.

Mark Lanegan was seriously ill with Covid-19 in 2020

Mark Lanegan fronted grunge band Screaming Trees from 1983 to 2000. Her biggest hits include “Nearly Lost You” and “All I Know”. But Lanegan was also very successful solo: he recorded his first album “The Winding Sheet” in 1990 together with Kurt Cobain (1967-1994) and Krist Novoselic (56) from Nirvana.

After the Screaming Trees, Lanegan was also a sporadic member of the bands Queens of the Stone Age and The Gutter Twins. The musician has released numerous solo albums with various guest musicians. In 2021 he processed his severe Covid 19 illness in the book “Devil in a Coma”.
