Many farewells at the 40th Ingolstadt Jazz Days – Bavaria

An anniversary with a hidden mourning ribbon: it was time to say goodbye during the two “jazz parties” at the 40th edition of the Ingolstadt Jazz Days, which traditionally represent the culmination of the festival. First of all by Jan Rottau, the artistic director since 1996. Thanks to his good contacts in the USA, he had landed the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival as a partner for many years. He has repeatedly discovered and presented newcomers, but also involved Ingolstadt’s own scene, for example with the annual awarding of the Jazz Promotion Prize at the start of the Jazz Days – this year it went to the 26-year-old pianist Josef Heinl.
