macOS 14.5, tvOS 17.5, watchOS 10.5 and HomePod OS 17.5 available

Updates for all systems: After releasing iOS 17.5 and iPadOS 17.5, Apple also released new versions of macOS, watchOS, tvOS and HomePod OS on Monday evening. The updates are rather small in nature, but they fix some dangerous gaps, which is why it is advisable to install them as soon as possible.

macOS 14.5 comes to the computer – at least outside the United States, Canada, Great Britain and Australia – without any package leaflet. The reason: The only officially communicated innovations concern the paid content media service Apple News+, which is only available in the four countries mentioned. In the regions covered, Apple is delivering a new word puzzle with “Quartiles” and is creating a new ranking (scoreboard) for “Mini Crossword”, “Crossword” and said Quartiles in the News+ puzzle category, which you can use to compete with other players . “Some features may not be available in all regions or on all Apple devices,” writes Apple succinctly.

Furthermore were over 20 security holes closed, including several that enabled code to be executed with kernel privileges. At least this time there don’t seem to be any zero days that are already being exploited. Apple gives credits for gaps in a total of seven areas, but does not provide any further details – these should only be submitted in the coming weeks. Parts of the fixes are also in macOS 13.6.7 and macOS 12.7.5, but unfortunately not all. Apple hasn’t updated Safari.

watchOS 10.5 brings a new “Pride Radiance” watch face to the watch. It’s part of Apple’s LGBTQ+ collection this year also includes a new solo loop bracelet. The update stalls a total of seven security holesApple is still holding back details on four other areas.

tvOS 17.5 is delivered by Apple without any information about the content. It fixes at least five security issues, Apple does not detail three other fixes. Finally, an update to HomePod OS 17.5 is available for download for owners of the HomePod 1, 2 and mini. As is typical for Apple, there is currently no information about this, including security-related bug fixes.
