Drama this Thursday evening. Lightning killed one person and seriously injured another when it fell on a football field during training Thursday evening in Courrières, near Lens (Pas-de-Calais), the prefecture announced.
One man died, another “suffering from chest pain was transported to the hospital center in a state of absolute emergency” and a third was slightly injured, burned on the leg, specifies the prefecture in a press release. Lightning accidents are extremely rare but can be fatal.
