Lost control: Farewell to Rainer Koch as BFV President. – Sports

Rainer Koch has ruled the Bavarian Football Association since 2004 – now he no longer competes. Many are in favor of this, but hardly anyone wants to speak out publicly. About someone for whom control was always the most important thing. And who has now lost her.

Rainer Koch is late for the 2018 regional league opening game at VfB Eichstätt. One cannot completely rule out that he, well: breaks into the town at a moderately excessive speed, at least his co-driver at the time is said to have turned a bit pale. A spot is always reserved for the President of the Bavarian Football Association (BFV) in the car park. But then the gate to the parking lot is already closed. Thousands in the stadium, cooking outside – that can’t be. It takes a few minutes for a folder to appear and the gate to open. Koch misses the start of the regional league season, the amateur Champions League, as he likes to call it. He is angry.
