War in Ukraine: attacks in Russia are increasing

NATO

“Ukraine’s membership in NATO depends on the United States and Germany,” says Volodymyr Zelensky.

HUMAN LOSSES

According to Volodymyr Zelensky, “31,000 Ukrainian soldiers” have been killed since the start of the war against Russia. “Each of these losses is a great loss for us,” he laments. As far as Moscow is concerned, “at least 180,000 Russian deaths” are to be counted, adds the Ukrainian president.

UNITED STATES

“We need the support of the United States, and in particular of Congress. This is not a game, it is very serious. We see challenges within the United States but we hope that it is they who will remain leaders of democracies in the world”, highlights Volodymyr Zelensky, who says he is “sure” that the situation will eventually be resolved across the Atlantic with a “positive” vote. “Is there an alternative to American support? We will look for other means,” slips the Ukrainian president.

FOREIGN WEAPONS

“We are working very actively to obtain more long-range weapons (from allied countries) but my feelings are positive regarding the recent response of our partners,” says Volodymyr Zelensky. “As for artillery, France knows that we are very grateful for the Caesar cannons, which work very well. We have created an artillery coalition. We expect a few dozen additional pieces from our French partner”, the Head of State further assures the press.

“NO POSSIBILITY OF LOSING”

“As for the question of whether Ukraine will lose, I am sure not. We do not have the possibility of losing. That would mean that we would no longer exist. Is it going to be complicated? It will also depend on Western allies. If we receive new weapons, we will not lose this war,” Volodymyr Zelensky told the press. “Ukrainians have no other alternative than to fight for their security,” he adds.

ZELENSKY IN FRONT OF THE PRESS

Two years after the start of the war against Russia, Volodymyr Zelensky is currently answering questions from journalists in kyiv. “I am convinced that Ukraine will always be in the media. It is very important to support it. For our part, we will do everything to win,” begins the Ukrainian president. “The eyes of the world are on Ukraine, thank you for that,” he adds.

MEETING AT THE ÉLYSÉE

The President of the Republic will bring together more than twenty heads of state and government or their ministerial representatives at the Élysée Palace on Monday for a conference in support of Ukraine, announces the communications department by Emmanuel Macron this Sunday in a press release.

“Two years after the start of the invasion of Ukraine, the participants will reaffirm their unity as well as their determination to defeat the war of aggression led by Russia in Ukraine. This conference will be an opportunity to share the findings of the situation on the ground, the profound destabilization caused by Russia and its renewed aggressiveness against Ukraine and against Europe. It will also allow leaders to study the means available to respond with ever greater speed and effectiveness to the needs of Ukraine and its people”details the document.

kyiv REDITS ITS CONFIDENCE IN WASHINGTON

Ukraine is convinced that the United States will not “abandon” it in the face of Russia and will ultimately vote for $60 billion in aid, blocked in Congress for months, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys said on Sunday Chmygal.

“We are deeply convinced that the United States will not abandon Ukraine in terms of financial and military support,” Chmygal said at a forum in kyiv dedicated to the second anniversary of the Russian invasion of that country .

VERY SIGNIFICANT DELAYS IN DELIVERIES

Half of the Western weapons promised to Ukraine are being delivered late, Ukrainian Defense Minister Roustem Umerov said on Sunday. Because of these delays, “we are losing people, we would lose territories,” he added.

LONDON PLEASES FOR FURTHER FREEZING RUSSIAN ASSETS

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Sunday called on the West to be “bolder” by seizing frozen Russian assets to redistribute them to Ukraine, and pleaded for initially sending the interest from these assets to Kiev .

“It starts by taking the billions in interest that these assets generate and sending them to Ukraine,” argues Rishi Sunak. “And then, together with the G7, we need to find legal ways to seize the assets themselves and also send these funds to Ukraine,” he added.

WESTERN SANCTIONS: “SKEPTIC” UKRAINIANS

The G7 leaders did not hesitate to specifically target China and Iran for their logistical support to Russia. “We call on Iran to stop supporting the Russian army”, affirmed the leaders of the G7 within which French President Emmanuel Macron, absent, was replaced by his Minister of Foreign Affairs Stéphane Séjourné. They also expressed their “concern over transfers to Russia by Chinese companies (…) of components for weapons and equipment for military production”.

North Korea was also targeted, with the G7 condemning “firmly on North Korean exports and the supply of North Korean ballistic missiles to Russia” and calling the end “immediate such activities”.

While Canada and Italy signed bilateral agreements with Ukraine on Saturday modeled on those already concluded by Germany and France, the G7 called on Ukraine’s donors to validate their financial contribution for 2024 , without however directly mentioning the blocking of new American aid in Congress. “We urge approval of additional assistance to meet Ukraine’s remaining budgetary needs in 2024”they urged, in a clear allusion to the American blockade.
