Gérald Darmanin is visiting Lyon this Saturday, a few days after the violent attack on three police officers in the Guillotière district.

The Minister of the Interior made several announcements to stem the insecurity. “A new permanent CRS brigade which will remain in Lyon, and 200 additional police officers who will arrive in January to keep my promise of 300 additional police officers”, he declares.

He invites the mayor, Gregory Doucet, to install video surveillance cameras. “We must install cameras that allow investigation resolution and better guide patrols,” he says. “I propose to the mayor to put more cameras and that we can have our hands on these video-protections”.

Visiting Lyon this Saturday, the Minister of the Interior tackles the absence of mayor, Gregory Doucet.

“I’m not here to sue but it’s a way to push cases,” he explains.

“The absentees are always wrong. It’s difficult for the police not to be supported by the mayor. I think the mayor made a big mistake, but he can contact me. I’m going to come back to Lyon at the beginning of September and I’ll invite you to be there,” he said.
