The President turns off the light. Or at least his servants do. In any case, Frank-Walter Steinmeier’s official residence, Schloss Bellevue in Berlin, is no longer illuminated at night. Of course, it’s not just about individual kilowatt hours, but about the symbolism – and their (hoped-for) radiance in times of impending energy shortages.
