Let’s talk about money with the kiosk owner Christa Fingerle – economy

Christa Fingerle is an institution on the banks of the Isar in Munich: when she was nine she was in her parents’ kiosk for the first time, and her life has revolved around this place ever since. A conversation about trust, schnapps and insolent customers.

The weather over the past few weeks has been ideal for Christa Fingerle’s business: not too cold, lots of sun. “People go for a walk there,” says the owner of the kiosk on the Braunau railway bridge. The little house in Munich’s Untergiesing district has been family-owned for 70 years. Fingerle knows many who come by here, celebrities and normal passers-by – and many know her. That’s why she doesn’t want to do the interview there, but in her apartment. A longer conversation is not possible at the kiosk, you are constantly interrupted.
