Kirchheim – subway at Heimstetten station flooded – district of Munich

The underpass at Heimstetten station has been flooded for days. Deutsche Bahn does not want to talk about botched construction – and promises to remedy the situation in September when the electricity for the lifting station is running.

While some may have breathed a sigh of relief after weeks of drought in the face of the heavy rains last weekend, the downpour also caused some problems: not only did Helene Fischer’s open-air concert in the exhibition center transform into a lake landscape, but also at the Kirchheimer train station In the Heimstetten district, passengers had difficulties getting their feet dry through the flooded underpass to the tracks. After a few days, the water had not run out, as a Heimstetten citizen reported to the SZ. Did the railway bungle here with the recently completed renovation work?

The problem is known and not considered dramatic.

As a spokesman said on request, the group is already aware of the problem. However, the fault is not in the planning, but is due to the fact that the work on the power supply has not yet been completed. “As soon as these are completed, we can then also put the lifting system into operation, so that no more water will collect in future heavy rainfall,” said the railway spokesman. The lifting system ensures that excess water is automatically pumped out. According to the railway spokesman, it is expected to be operational in September. Until then, Deutsche Bahn wants to “keep an eye on the situation so that the water can be pumped out manually if necessary”.

The renovated underpass, which was implemented as part of the renovation measures at the station, was only recently opened. The focus of the work, which began in spring 2021, was the barrier-free construction of the outer platforms. In addition, among other things, elevators and a platform roof are to be built, but these measures are still pending.
