In the case of the dead 14-year-old boy from Wunstorf near Hanover, an arrest warrant has been issued against the suspect of the same age because of urgent suspicion of murder. He faces up to ten years in prison.
The public prosecutor’s office in Hanover had previously requested custody for the 14-year-old suspect. The young person was then brought before the responsible juvenile court judge at the Neustadt am Rübenberge district court, said Can Türkay from the Hanover public prosecutor’s office on Thursday. The murder characteristic of insidiousness is seen – as requested. “The 14-year-old was unsuspecting and defenseless,” explained Türkay. The suspect was taken to the Hamelin Juvenile Institution. Murder can be punished under juvenile criminal law with a prison sentence of up to ten years. The day before, the 14-year-old had been investigated for manslaughter. An initial autopsy result is still pending.
Sadness and horror at the school of the two involved
Both young people – the victim and the alleged perpetrator – were students at the Evangelical IGS in Wunstorf. There is horror among classmates and teachers. There will be a non-public prayer service on Friday. Pupils, teachers and all employees are stunned and infinitely sad, said school director Elke Rothämel, according to a statement on Wednesday. For the children and young people there are opportunities to talk and retreat. School and emergency pastors are on site for this. Hanover’s regional bishop Ralf Meister expressed his sympathy: “My thoughts and prayers are with the family of the young person who was killed and with the school community of the Evangelical IGS.”
Victims from Wunstorf and alleged perpetrators knew each other
According to authorities, the victim had not returned home from a date Tuesday night. At around 6:45 p.m., the father reported the youth as missing. The police started extensive search measures with forces from the fire brigade and rescue services. The emergency services used personal tracking dogs and a police helicopter, among other things. In the course of the investigation, the acquaintance of the same age stated that he had killed and hidden the 14-year-old. The investigators then expanded the search in the Luther Forest area. Emergency services finally discovered the lifeless body of the 14-year-old on Wednesday morning on a wasteland in Blumenau.
Speculations about the murder weapon
According to investigators, the suspect is said to have planned the crime over several months. He is said to have used a stone as a weapon. So far, the police have not wanted to confirm this.
