Katharina Schulze is not running for federal chairmanship of the Greens – Bavaria

The Green parliamentary group leader Katharina Schulze renounces the federal chairmanship of her party in favor of her child. After the formation of a traffic light coalition in Berlin, the Greens would elect a new federal executive, Schulze told the weekly newspaper The time. “I was asked if I would not like to run for chairmanship. But: It doesn’t work, it just doesn’t work,” she said.

The 36-year-old gave birth to a son in June. Her partner Danyal Bayaz had only become Minister of Finance of Baden-Württemberg in Stuttgart a few weeks earlier. “That was just the timing now. He was faster there,” said Schulze. You could well have imagined taking on federal political responsibility, said the member of the state parliament. “But: Berlin, Stuttgart, Munich – not working.”

Bayaz, however, said the Timethat he was “not faster”. “It was the timing, I value that,” said the 38-year-old Green politician.
