Baguette bread has been part of the intangible world cultural heritage since the end of November, and Parisian restaurateurs immediately took the position that bistros should now also be given this honor. As early as 2011, when Viennese coffee houses received the title, landlords looked enviously at Austria, because what is right for coffee houses is more than cheap for bistros. Nowhere else are social barriers abolished as radically as in a bistro, where managers and workers stand and talk together at the counter.
