Justice authorizes the Dieudonné show that the mayor had banned

Comedian Dieudonné is expected to perform this Sunday in the Pink City (at 6 p.m.), in a venue where only ticketed fans will be informed of the address. His show – “Dieudonné sous bracelet” – had however been, once again, banned by a decree taken on Monday by the mayor of Toulouse Jean-Luc Moudenc. But the artist urgently appealed to the Toulouse administrative court, which ruled in his favor this Friday.

The town hall argued on a possible disturbance of public order that could be caused by someone who has already been convicted several times for inciting racial hatred, negationism or offensive remarks and on the risk he presented of importing the tensions of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, rekindled since the Hamas attack on October 7.

She also underlined that it is precisely this Sunday that a rally against anti-Semitism must take place in the Pink City (at 4 p.m. on the Place du Capitole), which could put the police in difficulty if they were obliged to do so. to secure the two events, in addition to a concert in the evening at the Zénith.

But in her decision, the administrative court of Toulouse upheld “the principle of freedom of expression”, holding in particular that this show, already performed elsewhere, had not given rise to any particular disturbances. Moreover, Dieudonné, in his defense, came out of hiding and informed the court of the address where he will perform.

The artist has also recently succeeded in having the ban on his show in Montpellier, Bordeaux and Mulhouse overturned.
